Menya Kyu

Great food, clean restaurant and nice chef staff. Their complementary tea is great, the karage chicken is very generous and tasty. The dumplings were good and tasted homemade. We had spicy sesame ramen and a creamy miso based one. We liked both. The chef checked in a few times to see if everything was good. Would definitely come back.

Very legit Japanese food with care and attention to detail. Great experience with service, food, and even decor. Happened to be in Hamilton for a few days and was pleased to find this gem. Karaage was very crispy yet juicy.

Recently went here after seeing a video on Instagram and it did not disappoint. Really nice restaurant inside and the staff were very friendly and kind. The chef was very nice too and came on check on our table to see how we’re doing and how the food is which was a really nice touch. We ordered gyoza, karaage chicken, spicy sesame ramen and creamy miso ramen. Everything was delicious. Very generous portions and I cannot wait to go back!

Loved their spicy sesame raman! I went back twice for the same. However, I did notice the last two times they did not serve boiled egg with soup so they get a star off for service.

Menya Kyu is a hidden gem for authentic Japanese cuisine! The flavors were spot on — you can really taste the freshness of the local ingredients in every dish. From the broth to the noodles, everything was prepared with care and attention to detail. The service was excellent too — friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who clearly love what they do. The only thing missing? I wish they served beer to round out the experience. Still, a fantastic spot for anyone craving real Japanese food. Will definitely be back!

Wanted a bowl of ramen the other day and despite Hamilton having a surprisingly large number of restaurants. Stopped in here. Wasn't busy, but most likely, due to the time and day. Service was quick. Ramen tasted pretty good as well. Was hoping for the duck I'd seen online as it was the reason i chose Menya Kyu, but unfortunately, it wasn't available. Had the spicy sesame. I'm giving a 5 because it was enjoyable. That said, i have had better ( tend to compare everyone to the ramen I've had in Japan ). I'm not sure if I'll be a repeat customer ( not from the area ). Ramen is one of my favorites and still looking for that one restaurant I can't get enough of. However if you enjoy ramen. I'd say give them a try.

Cozy shop offering up some truly incredible bowls of ramen. I'm typically a fan of tonkotsu and even though the broth here is chicken based (aside from veg option) I was not disappointed. While I found the spicy ramen I ordered to be decent enough to where I'd come back, the Miso Paitan was one of the best broths I've ever tried and I would make the trip from Toronto just for that bowl. The broth was so rich and robust I couldn't beleive it was chicken based. Noodles are cooked to perfection and had excellent chew. We ordered the karaage as a side which was some of the best I've ever had. The one area I think they could improve upon are the toppings as there was nothing really standout on that front. The chicken was super tender, probably sous vide, but could have used more flavor, maybe even a little torch/sear. Bean sprouts aren't my favourite for ramen but they're fine for the texture - the egg was perfect. That said I understand the minimal approach for the topping as the broth truly is the star of the show and there's no other flavour to distract or take away from it. Price is reasonable and service is very friendly. You can tell they passionate and care a great deal about what they serve and the quality of ingredients they use. Overall an excellent option for ramen and definitely one of the best when it comes to Paitan. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love the food at Menya Kyu. Every ramen I've tried has been so delicious and my favourite is the spicy sesame ramen. My dad and I love eating here because it reminds us of ramen restaurants we went to in Japan. Totally authentic and made with high quality ingredients. Once again today I was treated to a fantastic meal and great service at Menya Kyu. By far the best ramen in the city, not to mention the appetizers and desserts as well. I'm thankful to the Chef for opening his restaurant here in Hamilton and I highly recommend everyone come to Menya Kyu for the best ramen ever!
